INDEXES TO THE ARCHIVE OF THE STATES OF HOLLAND, 1524-1795
The archive of the States of Holland (Staten van Holland) is of great importance for the study of the history of the Republic of the United Netherlands. The States of Holland, which had managed to gain steadily increasing power in the course of the sixteenth century (see MMF collection "Public Finance, Trade and State Formation: The Archive of the States of Holland, c. 1445-1572") were after 1572 the highest governing body in the province of Holland. They thereby played an important role in the States General, where they exercised a particularly dominant influence in the field of foreign relations. There are indexes to the public resolutions, the secret resolutions and those of the executive organ.
